FEBRUARY WINGS
NATIONAL BIRD FEEDING MONTH

Hello Bird Friends,

February is National Bird Feeding month! This is a wonderful time to enjoy winter birds and take part in one of the biggest birding events of the year, the Great Backyard Bird Count! Whether you’re watching finches at your feeder or spotting raptors in the Bosque, this month is full of feathered fun.

Love Your Birds

Cold weather means your feeders are more important than ever. Your backyard becomes a lifeline for the birds and a daily joy for you! Help birds thrive by offering:

• High-fat foods like sunflower chips, suet, peanuts, and Bark Butter
• Fresh open water (heated to prevent freezing if possible!)
• Shelter such as brush piles or roosting boxes

Join the Great Backyard Bird Count | Feb 13–16

Birders around the world will be counting birds and you can help right from home! Spend just 15 minutes observing birds in your yard or favorite open space. Submit your sightings to help scientists better understand bird populations. Learn more about participating here.

Interested in a beginner-friendly live webinar to inspire you to deepen your connection with birds while joining this worldwide count? Sign up for this one-hour live event to discover tips, tricks, and ideas to prepare for the GBBC with birder, author and ZEISS Canadian Ambassador Julia Zarankin. Julia is an award-winning author, birder, and speaker best known for her memoir, Field Notes from an Unintentional Birder. She discovered birding later in life and now shares how observing birds can bring mindfulness, joy, and deeper connection to the natural world.
