FEBRUARY IS NATIONAL BIRD FEEDING MONTH!

National Bird Feeding Month is celebrated every February and encourages people to feed birds during winter, when natural food sources are scarce. It highlights how simple actions, like offering quality seed, fresh water, and shelter can support bird survival while bringing more wildlife and joy into our backyards. THANKS for helping to #SaveTheSongBirds.

Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) FEBRUARY 13 - 16

Each February, for four days the world comes together to admire birds during the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). Participants spend time in their favorite places observing and counting as many birds as they can find and report their findings. This helps scientists better understand global bird populations. Want to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count coming up in February, but not sure how to get started? New to watching birds? Check out this Audubon Society guide for helpful tips and ideas.

Turn your backyard birding into real science! November through April | It's Not Too Late!

From November through April, bird lovers across North America count the birds at their feeders to help scientists track population trends and movements. It’s fun, easy, and a great way to learn more about your feathered visitors while making a real difference for bird conservation! Learn more at Project FeederWatch.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology operates Project FeederWatch in partnership with the National Audubon Society, Bird Studies Canada and Canadian Nature Federation. The program relies on volunteers to count birds at their backyard feeders once every two weeks from November to April. The information helps scientists gain a better understanding of population trends and movements of birds and helps develop an awareness of North American feeder bird conservation efforts. Wild Birds Unlimited is a sponsor of this project.
